Place-based investments designed to remove barriers to financing

Thrive Impact Fund

Thrive is a BC place-based, first-time investment fund focused on supporting social impact organizations and communities across BC. As a place-based fund, Thrive plays a crucial role in resourcing local communities to lead solutions to their unique challenges. Led by women and designed by non-profit and social enterprise leaders who understand the need for patient financing, Thrive Impact Fund intentionally removes barriers to financing for non-profits, charities, co-operatives and for-profit social enterprises, as well as equity-deserving communities including women, Indigenous and newcomer entrepreneurs.

Thrive Impact Fund uses bridge financing, flexible loans, and revenue-based financing as key tools for helping investees overcome barriers to traditional financing, while drawing from wide networks and firsthand entrepreneurial experience to identify investees and help them chart their path towards deeper impact and financial strength. Boann’s investment in Thrive Impact Fund reflects our commitment to improving access to capital in underserved regions and building a strong, nation-wide social finance marketplace.

Boann is one of three wholesalers appointed through a competitive, merit-based process by the Government of Canada to invest a portion of the $755M Social Finance Fund (SFF), an initiative that seeks to accelerate the growth of Canada’s social finance market. The SFF supports charities, non-profits, social enterprises, co-operatives and other social purpose organizations (SPOs) in accessing flexible financing opportunities. Greater access to social finance through the SFF will help them grow, innovate, and enhance their social and environmental impacts.
