  • 1 min read

An innovative national platform building and scaling solutions to real estate and housing challenges

R-LABS was established in 2018 to help solve persistent challenges in Canada’s real estate and housing sector. As a venture builder, R-LABS partners with corporations, institutions, industry organizations, and entrepreneurs to build and grow companies that address housing supply, affordability, and inefficiencies in the built environment.

R-LABS  co-creates scalable ventures aimed at getting homes built faster. They use a research-driven and policy-informed approach, bringing together industry, experts, and entrepreneurs to drive innovation in housing supply.

Boann has partnered with R-LABS as its impact partner, supporting the integration of an impact framework across the platform and its portfolio companies. By embedding an impact lens throughout R-LABS’ business model, this partnership strengthens the platform’s ability to collect, apply, and share social, environmental, and economic data alongside financial performance.

Boann is one of three wholesalers appointed through a competitive, merit-based process by the Government of Canada to invest a portion of the $755M Social Finance Fund (SFF), an initiative that seeks to accelerate the growth of Canada’s social finance market. The SFF supports charities, non-profits, social enterprises, co-operatives and other social purpose organizations (SPOs) in accessing flexible financing opportunities. Greater access to social finance through the SFF will help them grow, innovate, and enhance their social and environmental impacts.
