Bridging gaps to help newcomer entrepreneurs succeed

Migr8 Capital

Founded in 2023, Migr8 Capital is an immigrant-led emerging fund manager supporting first generation immigrant entrepreneurs in the Prairies. While this region is home to a vibrant and growing startup landscape, newcomer entrepreneurs face challenges common to immigrants across Canada when seeking early-stage funding. Migr8 Capital Fund I targets these challenges as part of an ecosystem approach.

The Fund will invest in early-stage immigrant founders pioneering digital technologies that align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, including Digital Heath, Sustainable Agriculture, Climate Tech and Social Tech Platforms. Alongside this commitment to investing in underserved founders, Migr8 Capital is deepening impact alongside affiliate partner Migr8+ –– a non-profit hub that equips immigrant entrepreneurs with settlement support, networking opportunities, mentorship, knowledge and industry-specific insights, while actively fostering connections between government agencies, academic institutions, and capital market players to support the development of a cohesive immigrant startup ecosystem.

Boann’s catalytic contribution to Migr8 Capital Fund I recognizes its potential to foster more equitable access to financing, drive growth and impact at the local level in Alberta and throughout the Prairies, and model pathways to success for future funds addressing economic barriers.
